Fork Bushes

Fork Bushes

Fork bushes are the internal bushes within a motorcycle fork. The bushes in the forks are Teflon coated to reduce friction and aid fork action. The bushes are split into two types which comprise fork guide bushes and fork slide bushesOptimal clearance between the bushes and the fork tubes ensure their are no nasty knocks and a smooth action throughout the travel of the forks. Over time, the Teflon coating will wear, it’s at this time when they need to be replaced.

Fork guide bushes are located in the fork outer, immediately underneath the oil seal. Fork slide bushes clip onto the stanchions and move with the tubes.

We supply fork bushes from NOK, the world's largest fork bush manufacturer. A product of Japan, they are the choosen manufacturer for 99% of the worlds leading motorcycle producers.

If you are changing your bushes, you may wish to look at our range of fork oil, fork feals and fork springs.

If you’d rather have us change your bushes for you, we do offer a fork refurbishment service.

How do you measure your fork guide bushes?

We list the majority of our guide bushes by make/model/year of bike but we also list by size. Guide bushes are measured using the following format: Internal Diameter x Height x Wall Thickness, in mm. For example, a motorcycle fork with a 43mm stanchion may use a 43 x 15 x 2.00 guide bush.

How do you measure your fork slide bushes?

We list the majority of our slide bushes by make/model/year of bike but we also list by size. Slide bushes are measured using the following format: Internal Diameter (plus 0.70 mm for clearance) x Height x Wall Thickness, in mm. For example, a motorcycle fork with a 43mm stanchion may use a 43.70 x 15 x 1.00 slide bush.
