Suspension should be overhauled once a year for the average road rider and twice a year if the bike is raced. Reason being, the constant reciprocating motion of the suspension causes the seals and other bearings surfaces to wear leaving debris and sediment in the oil, this hinders the performance of the valving due to its low lift values and would subsequently cause poor damping which is very dangerous.
